Annual Fund Director

Position Overview

The Annual Fund Director, reporting to the Vice President of Development, will raise unrestricted gifts from individual donors and corporate support through oversight and execution of special events, corporate partnership program, annual direct mail campaign and donor cultivation to support Youth In Need’s mission and programs . This person will play a key role in assisting with the sustainability and expansion of the agency’s fund development program.  He or she will work closely with development staff and volunteers to develop comprehensive, integrated fundraising strategies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Event Planning & Production/Donor Cultivation

  • Oversee agency’s two main fundraising events to achieve quality and profitable event productions.  
  • Conduct research, make site visits, find resources and make recommendations to assist agency in making decisions about additional event possibilities.
  • Manage on-site production of all events.
  • Act as liaison for all third-party events hosted by individuals, businesses or organizations.
  • Close out all events as required, including post event plan timeline execution.
  • Oversight and coordination of all event administration functions, including, event revenue and expense budgets, monitoring of progress against goals, invoicing, reporting, event contracts, special mailings and event print materials.
  • Involvement in planning and executing cultivation & recognition activities, including annual “Thank You” recognition event and monthly President Briefing luncheons.

Individual/Corporate Outreach

  • Plan and collaborate with development and marketing staff to sustain, develop and grow agency’s annual direct mail program. 
  • Collaborate with development and marketing staff to develop all solicitation and marketing materials
  • Oversee annual Corporate Partnership fundraising program.

Education/Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least three (3) years experience in fundraising focusing on special events and annual giving activities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience developing successful written donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Experience in grant writing and grants management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
  • Must be flexible, diplomatic, and a good team-player, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines; ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work; ability to work and make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively.

Proficiency using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Raisers Edge (preferred) and Auction Tracker (preferred)
