The communications associate:
- is responsible for building support and understanding for the United Way in the community through marketing, advertising, and marketing and communications programs.
- develops and assists in implementing the marketing plans and programs.
- works with the regional vice presidents and the marketing & communications department of the United Way of Greater St. Louis to coordinate and manage activities for the Illinois region.
- designs, writes and produces materials for United Way publications and the mass media.
- works with other staff to plan and produce special events, coordinates the activities of volunteer committees, counsels United Way member organizations on marketing & communications issues, and works with other staff members in the Illinois area and United Way of Greater St. Louis on public relations and marketing programs.
- Bachelor's degree with major concentration in journalism, communications, marketing, or other job-related area or the equivalent.
- Strong writing skills, ability to use or supervise others in the use of
equipment, hands-on capabilities in use of computerized word processing, desktop publishing, and other graphics programs; graphics experience. Ability to use CS3 package of InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator.
- Professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism or related field.
