Special Event Intern

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri

This is a unique opportunity for a student who wishes to gain experience in the nonprofit sector.  

The Special Event Intern will work specifically on our newest fundraising event, Girls and Women of Distinction, an awards reception honoring 10 girl and 10 women leaders of today and tomorrow.  

We are looking for one student to serve in this position for the duration of the school year (Thursday, September 25 – Friday, May 8).  This unpaid position will bear responsibilities including event planning, researching potential partnerships, preparing mailings, and other tasks as assigned.  Please see the position description below.

Special Event Intern

Purpose of the position: Provide support for the 2009 Girls and Women of Distinction event.                    

Accountability:   Accountable to the Development Manager.

Term of position:    

• Thursday, September 25, 2008 – Friday, May 8, 2009
• Internship hours are flexible with a minimum of 5-10 hours per week.  Schedule must be between Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. 

 Responsibilities:

• Research potential partnerships with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
• Prepare mailings to nominees, awardees, and guests.
• Other event duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good oral communication skills and pleasant telephone manner/appearance.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Belief in the mission of Girl Scouting.
• Able to complete work within deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
• Must maintain confidentiality.
