Communications Supervisor

Job Duties:

Creates and executes communication programs and projects, government relations, speakers bureau for the Chapter and its various service areas. Provides professional communication services to generate media coverage, build general awareness and successfully market Chapter programs. Supervises communication interns, volunteers, and government relations lobbyist/consultant. Works in concert with the Marketing and Communication team to carry out Chapter plan. In all work actively supports the Strategic Goal for the Marketing and Communication Department: increase the reach of the American Red Cross by driving markets and communication initiatives designed to increase public awareness, market share and support of various programs and services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations communications or related field. Minimum of five years experience in media relations, with significant relationships in the St. Louis media market.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; must possess excellent communication, listening, and time management skills.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Software proficiency including Windows 2000 word processing, desktop publishing, presentations and understanding of the internet.
